The Silken Veil: Krka Waterfalls in Monochrome

Captured during a Mediterranean voyage from Barcelona to Istanbul in mid-2025, this study of the Krka waterfalls focuses on the raw, elemental textures of water and stone. I have been exploring the world through a lens for over 60 years, starting with a hand-me-down camera from my father when I was twelve.

In this piece, I utilized my 'Quiet Sentinels' editing philosophy to emphasize the craggy resilience of the rocks against the ethereal, silky motion of the falls. To achieve this specific tonal separation, I employed a specialized technique of boosting saturation and vibrance in the color original before the final monochrome conversion. The result is a high-contrast 'Noir' aesthetic that captures the timeless spirit of the Croatian landscape.
