Solitary Sentinel: The Maiden’s Tower, Istanbul

As a lifelong photographer with a passion for the timeless nature of monochrome, I am drawn to structures that stand firm against the elements. This study of the Maiden’s Tower (Kız Kulesi) in the Bosphorus was captured during my recent voyage to Istanbul. I used a high-key, minimalist processing style to emphasize the tower’s isolation and its historical presence. By taming the surrounding environment into a luminous mist, the intricate stonework and architectural character of this iconic landmark are brought to the forefront, creating a piece that feels both modern and historic.
