Organic Geometry

In this study from Tinana, I wanted to move beyond just 'taking a picture' of a tree. I saw a story of resilience in the way these leaf bases overlap like ancient armor. To really pull out that tactile, 'crunchy' feeling of the bark, I used my technique of boosting the saturation and vibrance on the color original before I committed to the monochrome conversion. This allowed me to create much more effective masks, ensuring the deep blacks of the shadows really anchor those silver-grey textures, creating a frame that feels as much like carved stone as it does a living plant.
