A Legacy in Stone:

Description

Standing before the Maryborough School of Arts, I can’t help but feel the weight of the stories etched into its 1887 render. In my monochrome conversion, I wanted to strip away the modern world and return this building to its original purpose: a 'shady retreat' and a beacon of popular education for the people who worked this land.

I find myself drawn to the Minerva keystone watching over the archway—a silent witness to the generations of locals who climbed these steps seeking knowledge. By using my saturation boost technique before the final conversion, I’ve managed to pull out the deep, gritty textures of the stone and wood, making the history feel tactile and alive. To me, this isn't just a heritage building; it’s a testament to the community’s enduring spirit, standing as a dark, dignified anchor against the Queensland sky.
