I captured this lone thistle in Canowindra, NSW, during a study of shallow depth of field. By using my saturation and vibrance boost technique before the final monochrome conversion, I was able to isolate the intricate, jagged textures of the plant against a deep, soft background. It represents the sharp, resilient beauty found in the Australian rural landscape.
